Sights and sounds of ripon event in March

Sights & Sounds of Ripon 2026

Sights and Sounds is a lively, family‑friendly day packed with activities, performances and opportunities to connect with local organisations.

Events will take place across Ripon Cathedral, Ripon Library, and Ripon Community between 10am-2pm. As well as this, Ripon Workhouse, Prison & Police and Courthouse Museums will all be open 10am to 4pm with free entry and activities for all HG4 residents (proof of address needed).

Events kick off at 10am with an opening ceremony at Ripon Cathedral.  Events to look out for on the day include:

The Cathedral:

  • Choir performances throughout the day
  • Free family craft activity
  • Stalls held by local organisations and charities where you can find out more about the services and opportunities in our community
  • The Cathedral Bell Tower will be open for a limited number of tours. Tickets are bookable in advance at Ripon Library.

The Library:

  • A number of local organisations hosting information pop-ups
  • Lego Club: 11am – 12 noon
  • Crafternoon Session: 12.30 – 1.30pm, Free | Ages 4-9

The Workhouse Museum:

  • Hands-on family story telling sessions running at 11am and 1:30pm.  These sessions are free with no booking required – just drop in!
  • Family craft activity making Victorian peg dolls.  Sessions will run 10am-12pm and 1:30pm-4pm
  • A special performance from Ripon Strings 12:30pm-2:30pm

The Prison and Police Museum:

  • Object Handling sessions all day – drop in and find out more about our unique collection.

The Courthouse Museum:

Ripon Community House:

  • Stalls held by local organisations and charities where you can find out more about the services and opportunities in our community
