Catherine Scott-Paul established the wondful Bordar House Teas back in 1985 when there was nowhere else to get a good cuppa.
She has since been joined by daughter Lucy, and Bordar House continues to go from strength to strength, serving everything from great Yorkshire breakfasts to homemade lunches and afternoon tea and cakes. Dine inside or soak up the Masham vibe as you enjoy their outside seating in the middle of the Market Place. Or if you’re in a hurry, their takeaway kitchen window is always in demand!
Bordar House Teas is a peculierly™ Masham business, and one where traditional food and warm welcome await.
You can explore Masham via our maps below and read Catherine and Lucy’s inside info in the following section.

…inside info from Catherine and Lucy…
How did you come to run the business?
When we first settled in Masham 40 years ago, there was nowhere to have a cup of tea. I was on a career break with small children and thought it was the ideal time to rectify this!
Top sellers:
Full English Breakfast & Yorkshire tea of course! We sold 28,000 cups last year!
Most peculier product:
Dirty Chai Latte.
What makes your business special?
Everything is sourced from the local shops. The café is a magnet for cyclists in the summer and also popular with bikers. The café has a display of Simon Palmer’s artwork. We are open 7 days a week, and only close 3 days in the year. You’ll often see a queue forming by the serving hatch on the corner, especially in summer!
Famous customers:
Chris Evans, Peter Egan, Jack Shepherd and several of the cast from Heartbeat.
Favourite place:
The Hackfall Walk from Masham.
Insider tip:
Go to Theakston’s and watch a barrel being made by Euan the Cooper.
