How did you come to run the business?
Both me and my husband were made redundant during covid – so time for a career change. I have run the shop since 2021 but it has been a Grocers for well over 40 years.

What makes your business special?
People are often surprised that it is not just fruit and veg sold here. A range of the excellent Yorkshire Provender fresh soups are available (made just outside Masham). There is always a fantastic range of fresh herbs, cream and yoghurt.
We’re also unusual as we are taking part in Peculierly Masham Pre-Orders so visitors can preorder essentials.

Swinton Park – we run the Birds of Prey Experiences there.
Insider tip:
Find “A Bull In Paradise” – you’ll love it!

The characters who live here are so diverse. There is not a dull day! Other info: Stephen was a gamekeeper for 40 years before becoming a greengrocer. He hand delivers newspapers to the people who can’t get to the shop.
