How long have you lived in or around Masham?

I have lived around Masham for most of my life and spent a significant part of my childhood watching and playing cricket down at the rec. I feel very fortunate to live and raise a family in such a beautiful and friendly place.

How did you come to run the business?

Masham has a great vibe, and of course, it’s incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of beautiful walks that attract many dogs to the town.

Top Sellers:

Our best-selling products are our handmade leads & collars. We create bespoke items tailored to your pet and offer them in a fantastic selection of colours & finishes.

What makes your business special?

People appreciate quality, and there is a growing demand for natural treats and handmade bespoke accessories for pets.

Most peculier™ product:

Air-Dried Bull’s Penis. Although it may sound peculiar, dogs love them, and they are a great long-lasting natural treat. Bull’s penises, or pizzles, are high in protein and help promote dental health through chewing!

Favourite place:

Marfield Wetlands, near Masham, is a stunning nature reserve featuring a variety of habitats, including wetlands, reed beds, and meadows. It’s an excellent spot for birdwatching, with many species visible throughout the year. The reserve offers well-maintained bird hides and pathways, making it ideal for peaceful walks while enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

What would you recommend doing in Masham and the surrounding area?

Explore the beautiful walks along the River Ure, and check out the local breweries and butchers to sample Masham’s craft beers and pies. For me, you can’t beat the pork pies from Rodger’s Butchers in Masham. I have eaten them all my life, and I have yet to find a better pie!

Insider tip:

One of my favourite places is our local old-school barber shop, Church Street Barbers. With only one barber, one seat, and appointment-only service, you receive a truly personal experience. It’s a friendly space where you can relax and engage in good conversation while getting a top-notch haircut.
