Throughout 2026, visitors can experience some of Yorkshire’s most celebrated community gatherings, each showcasing a different aspect of the town’s heritage, culture, and rural traditions.

From the roar of magnificent steam engines and the nostalgic sounds of fair organs at the Masham Steam Engine & Fair Organ Rally, to the agricultural heritage and family-friendly entertainment of the famous Masham Sheep Fair, the town comes alive with events that attract thousands of visitors every year.

Get ready for one of Yorkshire’s most spectacular heritage events as the Masham Steam Engine & Fair Organ Rally returns for another unforgettable weekend of family fun, entertainment, and nostalgia.

Taking over the beautiful market town of Masham, this much-loved event brings together over 800 magnificent exhibits, celebrating the very best of Britain’s engineering and transport heritage. Visitors can enjoy an incredible display of rare and historic steam engines, tractors, motorcycles, cars, lorries, and stationary engines, alongside traditional fair organs and much more.

This year’s rally promises even more excitement, with highlights including the world-famous Dancing Diggers, a thrilling Lancaster Bomber flypast, live music performances, children’s entertainers, arena displays, and a packed programme of activities throughout the weekend.

There truly is something for everyone, with a wide range of food and drink vendors, craft and trade stalls, a cookery theatre, family attractions, and a traditional fairground. Visitors can also enjoy locally brewed ales while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. As always, all proceeds from the event will support the Masham Town Hall Charity, helping to preserve and enhance this important community asset.

Masham's Yorkshire Day Celebrations

Saturday 1 August 2026 | 12:00pm – 3:00pm 

Join us at St Mary’s Church for a wonderful afternoon celebrating Yorkshire Day in the heart of Masham. The festivities begin at the church gates, where the ringing of the church bells will welcome visitors before the Town Crier officially opens the celebrations.

Families can enjoy a fantastic selection of free children’s activities throughout the afternoon. Popular attractions include the thrilling zip wire from 1pm, sheep-themed card making, cake decorating, and hook-a-duck. New for this year, children can also try their hand at building their very own Yorkshireman.

Inside the church, visitors can sample traditional Yorkshire treats; including Yorkshire pudding and gravy, cheese scones, and Yorkshire tea loaf. There will also be a variety of stalls featuring books, jigsaws, plants, and a tombola, alongside a fun opportunity to test your knowledge of classic Yorkshire sayings.

Entertainment continues with a performance from the handbell ringers at 1.15pm, followed by guided bell tower tours between 1.45pm and 2.45pm, offering a unique chance to explore this historic part of the church.

The celebrations conclude with the church choir leading a community sing-along of well-loved Yorkshire songs from 2.40pm until the event closes at 3pm, providing a fitting finale to this joyful celebration of Yorkshire heritage and community spirit.

One of Masham’s most cherished annual traditions returns, as the Mashamshire Show once again brings together the very best of local talent, creativity, and community spirit.

First established in 1968, the show has grown from its horticultural roots into a vibrant celebration of skills and achievements across a wide range of categories. Held in Masham Town Hall, the event welcomes competitors of all ages to showcase their talents in horticulture, flower arranging, produce growing, baking, preserves, arts and crafts, photography, and children’s classes.

Whether you’re an experienced exhibitor or entering for the first time, the show offers something for everyone. Visitors can browse the impressive displays, admire the hard work and creativity of local entrants, and enjoy a traditional afternoon of tea and homemade cakes while the judges’ decisions are revealed.

From prize-winning vegetables and stunning floral displays to handcrafted creations, delicious bakes, and imaginative children’s entries, the Mashamshire Show celebrates the talents that make this community so special.

Masham Sheep Fair

Masham Sheep Fair

Saturday 26 & 27 September 2026 | 10:00am – 4:00pm

One of Masham’s most popular rural celebrations returns this September. Set in the market squares, the Sheep Fair celebrates the town’s rich sheep-trading heritage with a fun-filled weekend of entertainment, community spirit, and fundraising for local charities.

Visitors can enjoy an exciting programme of events including sheep racing, sheep shows, sheepdog demonstrations, the traditional Bishop Blaize Procession, Morris dancers, handbell ringers, craft and fleece stalls, an art exhibition, brewery tours, and family-friendly activities. St Mary’s Church will also feature a harvest-themed flower display.

Founded more than 40 years ago, the Sheep Fair has raised around £200,000 for Yorkshire charities while preserving and celebrating Masham’s unique agricultural history. Today, it remains one of the town’s most anticipated annual events, attracting visitors from across the region for a weekend of sheep-themed fun in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
