The Masham Photographic Club meets regularly at Masham Town Hall to hold workshops and develop members’ skills. Recently, however, they have been working on a very special project.
‘Masham Life in 2025: Faces – Places – Spaces’ offers a fascinating look at the people, local businesses, annual events and heritage of Masham, the town to which the club is closely affiliated.
The book captures the true spirit of Masham, highlighting how many local people contribute across different aspects of the community to make it such a unique and vibrant place. It shines a light on what makes the town so special.
“Masham Photographic Club have done a marvellous job using their considerable photographic talent to produce this excellent book. In this digital age, it is so nice to have all of this recorded on paper, and it will be treasured by many generations to come.” — Foreword by Susan Cunliffe-Lister
Across 56 glossy pages, readers can peek inside local shops and businesses, many of which have been run by the same families for generations. The book also offers a unique look at some of Masham’s most popular events, including the Sheep Fair and Steam Rally. Recognising local sports associations, the weekly markets and St Mary’s Church, it follows the changing seasons to provide a true snapshot in time for future generations to enjoy.
The club also runs a YouTube channel called A Snapshot of Masham Life, which reflects its ongoing activities.
Profits from book sales will kindly be shared between MCO, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Masham Photographic Club, for which we would like to express our thanks. Copies are available to buy now from the Community Office for just £8.95 and a sneak preview of some of the wonderful photographs featured are shown below.
