Masham Parish Council have recently provided a number of important updates to be aware of.
Masham Emergency Plan
Masham Parish Council maintain a community plan which can be activated in the event of an emergency or major incident in the area. The plan contains details of persons who might help provide time or equipment to assist in the event of a civil emergency in the Masham parish council area (Masham Town, Swinton with Warthermarske, High and Low Burton, High and Low Ellington).
As part of this plan, and held strictly separately and in confidence, we also maintain a list of vulnerable persons who may benefit from a welfare check in an emergency situation. This may include persons with physical or other disabilities, those who are vulnerable due to their circumstances, lack of local family support etc.
If you or a member of your family live in the defined area and believe you may benefit from a welfare check in a civil emergency situation, please email your name, address, contact number and any relevant information to Cllr.Val.Broadley@masham-pc.gov.uk requesting inclusion on the list.
Improved Amenities at Tittybottle Park
Masham Parish Council are seeking to improve the amenity in Tittybottle Park. They are hoping to remove two untidy but serviceable park benches to be redeployed to other locations and replace them with seating more in keeping with the Victorian park.
The proposal is to obtain three ‘snakes head’ type seats to be located in the upper and central area of the park. There is an opportunity for anyone seeking to place a memorial bench in the town to sponsor a bench in the park at an estimated cost of £300-£350. If anyone would like to assist either by sponsorship or in any other way, please contact Cllr.Val.Broadley@masham-pc.gov.uk.
Defibrillator Replacement Batteries and Pads
Using a variety of methods (local contributions, grants etc) Masham and the surrounding villages have managed to secure a number of defibrillators. Some have been in use for a number of years now, and have reached the point where batteries and pads will soon require to be replaced.
Cost of each replacement is likely to be in the region of £400. Masham Parish Council have agreed to undertake responsibility for replacement, but funding going into the forthcoming year is going to be very tight. If anyone is interested in providing sponsorship or contributing towards these ongoing costs we would love to hear from you, clerk@masham-pc.gov.uk.
