Nosterfield Nature Reserve was once a sand and gravel quarry. It consists of 150 acres of wet grassland and open water situated between the Rivers Ure and Swale. What makes it so unique is the underlying magnesian limestone and its associated aquifer, which impact on the variable water levels.

There are three purpose-built hides at Nosterfield, each is connected by a pedestrian walkway which is fully accessible for those with mobility issues.
