Be inspired by this one-woman show about Amy Johnson, the first woman to fly solo from England to Austrailia.
This enthralling drama follows the life of the Hull-born aviatrix, Amy Johnson, who was the first woman to fly solo from the UK to Australia.
The play (which features a 2/3rds replica bi-plane!) celebrates Amy Johnson’s pioneering career and explores her final mysterious journey. During the Second World War she played a vital role as one of a team of female pilots working as auxiliary personnel. She died aged 37 after her plane came down in the Thames Estuary on 5thJanuary 1941, in circumstances which have never been fully explained.
Amy Johnson stars actors Sarah Raines and Frances Tither and has original songs and music by Jez Lowe, Singer award winning singer-songwriter who recently worked with Michael Murpago on a BBC Radio 2 collaboration ‘Alone on a Wide Wide Sea’.
The show at Grewelthorpe Village Hall starts at 8pm with doors open in the 7pm
