Masham sculpture trails are an opportunity to enjoy the town and surrounding countryside and at the same time follow a themed art trail.
Nothing evokes warm summer evenings in Masham Market Square quite like the overhead aerobatics and unique calls of the swifts. The Swift Trail celebrates their iconic significance to Masham with ten unique small sculptures by Yorkshire artists, all mounted on historic buildings or places around the town itself. It is an easy, short and accessible walk to locate the sculptures.
If you want to explore the countryside immediately around town, the Leaves walk is lightly longer, over footpaths and fields. It is a three mile, easy-going, circular, walk, circling town and punctuated by a series of oak leaf sculptures. Each hewn from the stone slabs that once formed the platform at Masham Railway Station. A walk leaflet and map is available from Masham Community Office.
Just outside Masham, the Himalayan Garden is a must if you enjoy sculpture in the environment and The Lucy Pittaway Sculpture Trail is evolving in the woods at Druids Temple.
