Visitors to Mashamshire Community Office can now pick up a selection of the much-loved Stephen Cocker Cards, bringing the business’s trademark Yorkshire humour back to Masham following their recent retirement from the Market Square.
The Bedale-based family business was founded in 1998 by Stephen and Val Cocker, who built a loyal following with Stephen’s distinctive hand-drawn illustrations. For nearly three decades they designed, printed and packed every card themselves, creating a unique collection.
Earlier this year, Stephen and Val passed the business on to their daughter-in-law, Emma, who is continuing the family legacy. The much-loved designs and unmistakable Yorkshire wit remain at the heart of the business, with Stephen’s extensive archive of original drawings providing plenty of inspiration for future card designs.
Many local people will remember browsing the colourful cards on Masham Market Square, and while the stall is no longer there, a carefully selected range is now available to buy at Mashamshire Community Office. Emma has kindly given MCO exclusivity to continue selling these wonderful cards in Masham and we couldn’t be happier. Not only do the range bring a big smile to peoples faces, there is something for local residents and visitors alike.
Whether you’re looking for a birthday card guaranteed to raise a smile or a something distinctively “Yorkshire” to take home from your travels, the collection offers a range of quirky designs and greetings perfect for all occasions.
Supporting the range at Mashamshire Community Office is another way to celebrate a local family business while helping keep independent Yorkshire creativity thriving in our community.
