Community Messaging: Fire Service Consultation, Farm Break-In and More

18 Aug 2025

This week’s update shares a major consultation from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, an urgent local crime alert and information for survivors of non-recent child sexual abuse on how to seek a review of past cases.

Have your say: Fire Service Community Risk Management Plan 2025–2029

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking residents to share their views on its draft four-year plan. The Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) sets out how the Service will use its people, vehicles and equipment to meet local needs. Proposals include reviewing fire stations and appliances, extending the life of key buildings and updating policies on automatic fire alarms and water bowsers. The consultation is open until Sunday 7th September 2025 – please take a few minutes to read the full document and complete the survey: Start the survey here.

Local break-in: £30k of tools and machinery stolen

Police are investigating a break-in at a local farm site overnight between 4.30pm on 11th August and 6am on 12th August, where thieves stole a yellow JCB dumper, a new Bobcat Wacker and other valuable tools. If you have any information or CCTV that may show this equipment being transported, please contact the Police directly or let MCO know so we can pass on details. Everyone is urged to stay vigilant and ensure their own equipment is locked and secure.

Thank you to North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

A message from York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority:

A massive thank you to all our North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews, control room and staff dealing with the ongoing Langdale Moor incident. There is a sense of togetherness and teamwork which is supported by local farmers and gamekeepers on the ground, employers of our on-call fire fighters, partner agencies and our communities as a whole.

Everyone is playing their part to deal with this incident however it is a reminder that in the height of summer, everyone else must play their part too. Our countryside remains at extreme risk of wildfire, please support our colleagues in the fire and rescue service by following the advice on how to prevent wildfire incidents. Crews continue to remain at the scene. Please support them by avoiding the immediate area.

Support for survivors of non-recent child sexual abuse

If you reported allegations of child sexual offences before 5th June 2013 and were told no further action would be taken, you may be able to request a review through the Child Sexual Abuse Review Panel (CSARP), run jointly by the NPCC and CPS. From April 2025, the scheme also covers cases reported after 5 June 2013, provided they haven’t already been through the Victim’s Right to Review. Survivors say the process “can change your life.” For more details, visit: Child Sexual Abuse Review Panel | CPS.
