The Household Support Fund was set up by the government to help people who are struggling with the increase in living costs and feeling the financial pressure of paying their bills.
In North Yorkshire, there is a direct award e-voucher payment to people who are eligible.
The scheme provides a single e-voucher of £190 to pay for food and other essentials over the coming months.
Who is eligible
You must be getting a weekly discount of 75% or more on your council tax bill through the means-tested Council Tax Reduction Scheme as of Monday 1 September 2025 to be eligible for the Household Support Fund.
If you only get the 25% single person council tax discount for households where only one adult is living in the property you WILL NOT be eligible.
Everyone who is eligible will receive a letter by Thursday 23 October 2025. The letter will include information about how to claim and use the e-voucher.
You do not need to get in touch to let the council know that you are eligible, they will write to everyone who meets the eligibility criteria.
You can check if you are eligible using the NYCC online eligibility checker. To use the eligibility checker you will need your:
• national insurance number
• date of birth
• postcode
You can enter the code on your letter to select your vouchers on the NYCC website.
Deadline Looming
If you have had a letter telling you that you are eligible for a Household Support Fund payment, you must select your e-vouchers by Wednesday 12 November 2025. The council cannot process any claims after this date.
