This year’s Summer Reading Challenge takes place between 12th July and 6th September and you can sign up now in the Library at Mashamshire Community Office – open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.

The theme this time round is ‘Story Garden’ and is aimed at inspiring children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.

When you sign up you’ll receive a special collector folder to set you off on your Challenge. You set a reading goal and can read anything you like. Each time you finish a book, visit the library and collect special stickers and rewards for reading books! When you have completed the Challenge you will receive a certificate and medal!

Alongside this, we’re also running a quiz based around the same theme, all about adventures in nature and the great outdoors. Pick up a quiz sheet from the Library or Community Office between 15^th July and 9^th September and have fun wandering around all the shops on and around the High Street in Masham.

Keep your eyes peeled for picture clues in shop windows and use them to answer the quiz questions. Remember to bring your completed quiz back to the Library and you’ll be entered into a draw. The winner will receive a family ticket to visit Fountains Abbey in Ripon. Enjoy and good luck!
